The Candescent Project

Green Gold
part of Coutts London Jewellery Week

June 8 - 14 9.00 - 16.00

Art Workers Guild
6 Queen Square
Bloomsbury
London WC1N 3AT

The Candescent Project produces exhibitions, events and public art projects that encompass craft, design, creativity and thought. With an interest in sustainability and the environment Candescent facilitates projects where objects are not only beautiful to look at but have a story to tell.

The exhibition ‘Green Gold’ will feature jewellery created by award winning jeweller Stacey Whale. Stacey has been commissioned by the Candescent Project to produce jewellery using gold sourced from Oro Verde ® (green gold) in Colombia. As the name suggests the gold is mined without the use of chemicals and the working practices of the small-scale mines are fair. The fairly traded gems for the jewellery are to be supplied by Columbia Gem House in the USA. Photography and art accompanies the exhibition, which will be held at the Art Workers Guild, a hidden gem in Bloomsbury, London.
