Plymouth Museum | Labelled

Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery
Drake Circus

Throughout June

Labelled is an installation by RSA Fellow Dail Behennah which addresses issues around species diversity and conservation.

The installation comprises 500 enamelled labels, taken directly from labels in the museum’s natural history collection, suspended in a circle in front of a large window. The labels belonging to species in the collection which are now extinct or endangered have been enamelled in red and hang outside or at the very edge of the circle. This brings home the fact that species in Britain are under threat and that these issues are not confined to plants and animals in far away places.

The installation, which has been purchased for the Museum’s permanent collection, will remain in place until March 2010. For more information, visit the Museum's website.
