Participants explore the site through storytelling. They listen to old stories and make up new ones about the plants, the people or creatures (real or mythic) who live there, now and in the recent past and the ancient past.

They explore the gardens, greenhouses, sheds and beds, finding special or hidden places to tell their stories, learning how site specific theatre uses its environment as set, props and inspiration.  They make puppets using materials gathered from their surroundings, they learn how to animate them and use them to tell their stories.  They learn about the plants that grow there, how to harvest and cook them simply.  And they learn how, as our ancient ancestors knew, magic can be created when telling a story, sitting around a fire, eating good food, celebrating that all this came form the place where you are.  The course culminates with their performances on site.

Other details:
Five week course
12 spaces for children aged 5-11
Cost: £6 per session drop-in, or £25 for 5 weeks paid in advance; call to discussion concessionary rates.
