Eco Labs | Climate Road Show

Climate Road Show | Future Scenarios
Opening: Thursday June 18th. 6-9pm
June 18 - 27
BASH Creations
65 - 71 Scrutton Street
London
EC2A 4PJ

With the help of over a dozen artists, EcoLabs is exploring future scenarios in the context of climate change. The Climate Road Show uses the visualizing powers of artists to display possible futures. Three bodies of work show various futures as predicted through three lenses: of science, of economics and of permaculture.

Six Degrees illustrates Mark Lynas’ book of the same title based on evidence compiled from hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific papers on projected changes with each degree of climate warming.

Steady State
is a graphic representation of eco-economist Herman Daly’s work on a sustainable economic system.

Finally, Scenarios describes four potential future scenarios based on permaculture founder David Holmgren’s work on the impact of climate change and peak oil.

Of course the real future will not be neatly defined by any one theory but will be a complex mixture of many driving forces. Nevertheless, these visions of future challenges could inform decisions we make today. The planet is experiencing a climate crisis of catastrophic proportions. The gravity, scope and depth of the problem demand the greatest collective effort and co-operation.  None of us can succeed alone in addressing the root causes of the problem; but collectively, we have a window of an opportunity to act.
